How to use it
Keep the daily Git steps together
LocalGit’s Synchronize captures non-ignored changes, commits when needed, fetches, integrates the selected GitHub branch, and pushes. You can also trigger it with Apple Shortcuts. Working Copy supports a Sync Repository shortcut and Auto-Sync too; choose based on the workflow you prefer.
Make recovery part of the routine
LocalGit verifies a stable capture before continuing and does not rebase or force-push. Overlapping changes that cannot merge safely stop in Recovery, where you choose the iPhone or GitHub version for each affected path. Stop editing while synchronization runs.
Review a note’s history
Per-file Git history is Free in LocalGit. The Pro preview adds search for committed deleted Markdown and Canvas notes, full historical text previews, and Restore as copy without overwriting the current file. Pro purchases are not enabled in the current build.
Choose the tool that fits your scope
LocalGit focuses on GitHub and On My iPhone folders on iOS 26 or later. Working Copy supports iPhone and iPad, more Git hosts, advanced Git operations, an editor, and automatic synchronization. Both can work with compatible external note folders.
Moving from Working Copy
Push your current branch to GitHub first. Link LocalGit to a fresh, empty On My iPhone folder, then confirm your editor can use it. LocalGit does not directly import a Working Copy repository. Keep your original notes until you have verified the new setup.
